4WD Landcruiser (6 seats); Mini-Coaches (20-22 seats) or Coaches (45-65 seats). All vehicles are air-conditioned.

Meals / Food

Comfort touring generally eats in restaurants that offer extensive menus and choice of food. They are a very good standard, just like you would expect in any restaurant around the world. Inclusions vary with different tour operators and some may have picnics for lunch in the national parks. All operators can provide for special dietary requirements. Most days, operators will stop at cafes or roadhouses where you can pick up some snacks or ice cream as well.

Attractions Visited

You will visit Aboriginal rock art sites, enjoy boat cruises and see spectacular waterfalls. Your Tour Guide knows the best places to visit at the right time, so you can rest assured you will experience the best our region has to offer.

The easiest way to summarise...

Kakadu NP

  •  visit the major Aboriginal art sites Nourlangie and/or Ubirr
  • join boat cruises on Yellow Waters Billabong, Guluyambi on East Alligator River and/or Jumping Crocodile Cruise on Adelaide River
  • visit the Bowali Visitor Centre and/or Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre
  • only the 3 day tours offer a visit to Jim Jim & Twin Falls (seasonal) by 4WD
  • Optional Scenic Flights

Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge NP

  • join the boat cruise on the Katherine River through the Gorge
  • visit Edith Falls
  • visit the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre

Litchfield NP

  • visit Tolmer, Florence and Wangi Falls
  • optional walks through monsoon rainforests
  • visit Termite mounds

Arnhem Land

  • visit an Aboriginal art centre; chance to purchase art direct from artists
  • visit Aboriginal rock art site
  • most tours are accompanied by an Aboriginal Guide – learn about ‘bush tucker’
  • views from Injalak Hill and spectacular Mikinj Valley

From December to April (wet season) our monsoonal climate affects access to locations and some will close because of monsoonal rains and local flooding. From May to November (dry season) almost everything is open and accessible – this is the most popular time to visit.

Fitness

Anyone can enjoy this touring style. There is no fitness level required to participate in all the activities, except visiting Jim Jim and Twin Falls – visitors will need a moderate level of fitness to walk the trail to Jim Jim Falls.

Hotel / Hostel Pick Up

Every tour operator will happily pick you up from Darwin city hotels and backpackers; and some pick up from hotels and private residences in the suburbs.

Tour Guides / Drivers

All tour guides/drivers are professionally trained and provide informative and entertaining commentary throughout the day. Tour Guides working within Kakadu NP are required by law to have licences. They must complete a training course managed in conjunction with Kakadu NP management, the Traditional Owners and Charles Darwin University.
