Over The Top End National Parks

Are you short on time or want an amazing experience? The Top End is vast and flying is a terrific option to see the expansive wetlands, northern coastline, dramatic sandstone escarpments and powerful waterfalls. A few tour operators offer ½ day or full day scenic flights from Darwin over Kakadu, Nitmiluk (Katherine) Gorge, Litchfield and Arnhem Land. If you were to walk and drive every track in Kakadu – you would see less than 1% of the park. Flying gives you a true sense of the size and wilderness of the Top End region whilst giving you access to some inaccessible areas.

  • Kakadu NP – this full day tour includes spectacular aerial views of the northern coastal wetlands, magnificent waterfalls and sandstone escarpments, visit an ancient Aboriginal rock art site and also an art community

Fixed Wing Airplane

  • Kakadu NP – this 2 ½ hour scenic flight include spectacular aerial views of the northern coastal wetlands, magnificent waterfalls and sandstone escarpments. Option to land at Cooinda and join a 1 ½ hour wetlands cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong
  • Kakadu NP & Katherine Gorge – this full day covers the Top End region and includes fixed wing flight 300km south to Katherine Gorge, 15 minute helicopter flight over the 13 gorges, fixed wing flight over Kakadu waterfalls/escarpment to Cooinda, Yellow Waters Billabong boat cruise and fixed wing flight back to Darwin with spectacular aerial views of the northern coastal wetlands, magnificent waterfalls and sandstone escarpments
